Our new 2018 Basecamp

We are excited to be taking delivery of our 2018 Basecamp tomorrow! Our new trailer is beautiful, well built and waterproof! We had 13 inches of rain last week Wednesday. We inspected our trailer when the rain stopped and found no leaks! The fit and finish seems excellent. I believe that Airstream put their best effort into improving the Basecamp. We are excited to be getting such a beautiful, agile trailer!

Hope that your new Basecamp is everything you are expecting.

FYI there are various threads in this Basecamp forum regarding issues that some folks are having.

Good luck!

Can you tell us what brand and model number refrigerator your 2018 Basecamp has and does it cool sufficiently on shore power and LP gas??

Hi. Thank you all for your replies. My husband (Twitterpated)and I have been reading the forums for months. We are huge Disney fans. I just signed up for my own username today. Our new Basecamp has been great so far. We have only had it for a week and we love it.

We had it plugged into our standard garage outlet with the adapter and the AC came on just fine.

We had an upgraded fantastic fan installed that has a rain sensor and it also works in both directions. In my opinion a great upgrade.

We purchased a 2018 model with solar, no microwave and warm stone interior. I love the interior colors. It is calming and peaceful. The more time I spend in the trailer the more spacious it feels. We really debated on what model to buy and I am so glad that we decided on the Basecamp.

We have not tried running the fridge on gas only. It worked great on shore power. It cooled to 40 in about 8 hours. To be honest, we hope to use it for quick getaways and turning on the fridge 12 hours in advance may not be practical for us. I will look at the model number and post it when I get back to the trailer. We may look into a 12v marine fridge if it would work with our solar and perhaps a second battery?

Towing with our Ridgeline was smooth and easy. We can see around the trailer perfectly without extended mirrors. The blind spot sensors on the truck still work great when towing, too. It did not sway at all. We just opted to start with a basic ball hitch and wireless brake controller. It seems to be working well.

The hot water was a little hit and miss. I suspect that we need to adjust the bypass valve like another thread suggests. The manual also mentions this valve.

Thanks again for all of your kind words and information.

They switched to all-electric in mid-2019. Besides food not getting cold, this also appears to have solved an issue with water getting in the refrigerator vent and rotting out the floor.
