I give up!!

After 5 trips to the dealer, a 500 mile round trip, I gave up on my 2017 Basecamp and sold it back to the dealer for about 50% of what I paid.

The final straw was that the front window shattered while sitting in my barn.

The 2017 Basecamp was an ill-designed, ill-built piece of junk.

I bought one, and way overpaid, because of the Airstream name and reputation. What a crock.

And by the way dont be fooled by replies to this forum that seem to come directly from Airstream. I talked with Jon in the Airstream Customer Service Dept and he said it was a third party thing and that Airstream ignored them.

The best view of my Basecamp was when it left my driveway for the last time.

So sorry for your troubles. Your comment is spot on IMO.

As a long-time Airstream fan and owner, the one word which keeps echoing in my mind, regarding the Basecamp, is . . .

”embarrassing”

Sorry for your bad experience. That is really frustrating. All the BCs seem so hit and miss. Some are fine and some are complete duds.

So true. I have had my Basecamp for 8 months. After one trip back to the dealer for a short punch list of service issues, I have had 3 subsequent glorious camping trips without issues. Lots of attention from other campers. It has been great fun. The basecamp has such potential . . . it's a shame that there have been so many problematic Basecamps. I feel like I have been one of the lucky ones.

Why would you sell a trailer that was still under warranty back for half what you paid. I would check and see about lemon laws. At least get an attorney to see if you can return for your purchase price. Seems like you would have some other recourse.

No lemon laws for RVs. Unless the laws have changed. May be state specific though.

Not sure whether it would be applicable in his case but some states, such as WA, do have lemon laws that apply to RV's.

I stand corrected. It looks like many states have added RVs to their lemon laws.

On the bright side, he now has a 10% deposit for a new Airstream real trailer.

Yeah, I don't think Airstream even thought the basecamp was an Airstream.......would have made them in China if it were possible.

Cheers
