Door Window Missing
We have a brand new Basecamp. We took off for eastern Oklahoma from north Texas. When we arrived, we noticed that the main CS door window and the accompanying insulation were gone. Yep fell out some time in the the previous 150 miles. Anyone else have problems with the door window?

Welcome to Air Forums. Holly cow, that is rotten luck and unacceptable. The trailer goes back to the dealer for warranty repair of course. They will make it as good as new. Maybe some human forgot to rivet the window in.
You're in the new member section. Your post will get more views in the Windows and Doors section. Just a suggestion.

Good suggestion. Thread moved to the Base Camp sub forum instead.

The door windows in the Basecamps are glued in place, no rivets.

Well, heck, learn something new everyday. I didn't think Airstream assembled much of anything without rivets. I've seen rivets holding wood pieces together in my vintage trailers.
So someone forgot to apply the glue.

I can not find any glue residue evidence or other evidence that may suggest the method that the window may have been retained, if glue was used it had to stick to something and there is only a very limited surface area where glue may have .employed. Any other suggestions of how the window my have bee retained in place.

Door Window Missing
Airstream tells us that the window is not a stock item and must be manufactured. They have not provided us with a time when the replacement window will be available and have not offered any temporary technical resolution. We have responded with Airstream with VIN. We purchased our Airstream NEW seven (7) weeks ago. Three of those seven weeks it has been back to the dealer for repairs or not useable (i.e. cardboard and duct tape has its limitations).

Must be the Marine aviation in me, while the window may need to be manufactured, the door assembly does not and there is one right there on that unsold unit, so swap it out and THEY can wait for it to be manufactured.

Basecamp door window
2017 Basecamp - I found my door window delaminating from the frame and evidence of water leakage into the door (rust at the rivets).

I never noticed any delamination or evidence of leakage, although we’ve only owned it for a few weeks. We just noticed in the rear view mirrow when rounding a corner, something hanging off the trailer (thought it was a discarded plastic grocery sack). When we stopped to remove the item we discovered it was the door interior insulation beneath the missing window. Is there a missing window surround or something to which the window may have been attached?

A temporary fix and we try it on the road on Monday! Repair made with a sheet of acrylic, cut to proper dimensions, an aluminum spar, some stainless steel screws, some self-adhesive tint (self-adhesive tint does not work on acrylic) and HVAC silver tape. Not pretty but appears functional for now.

Quick fix works great. Spent 4 days on the road with no issues. Dealer called a couple of days after returning. They now have the parts and are making repairs.

On the road again. Window repair by VOGT RV (Airstream Dealer) was successful, although a couple more repairs are forthcoming due to damage during repair.
Left North Texas on 7/21 with Texas temperature at 107 F. Cooled the trailer for 12-18 hours prior to departure. At 107 AC cooled to 80F in 20 minutes & 70 in an hour or so (very impressed). By morning refrigerator was at 40 F. We left for Mississippi and cooler weather. Refrigerator has not gotten below 60 F. We have now been on shore power for several days. Refrigerator still at 60 F. Food has spoiled.
So we now have a 3rd item on our list for warranty repair.

Sorry for your continuing troubles! Thanks for the update.
Please consider posting this fridge info in the Simple Survey thread, so that other BC owners can benefit from your misfortune. [link in Post #16]
