Mrs. Kenmore and I decided to spend Christmas in Charleston SC. Had a lovely time at James Island County Park (Traffic alert during Christmas time!! Google Christmas Lights). On the trip back to NY, we did a stop over in western Virginia right off I-81 in Luray. Temps were dropping like a rock. I had hoped to do a quick drain and winterize right before we left but with 10 degree temps at 5 AM that was not happening! The night before, we flipped the rocker switch to the left of the fridge to activate the tank warmers. This will cycle your inverter quite a bit as it is a
12V load. We had full hookups so I set the Truma to LP and double electric (two lighting bolts). It did a great job maintaining a VERY comfortable temp inside the BC. We did have ice on the front windows on the inside when we woke up!!!! For the journey home, we left the Truma on LP mode on a low setting (maybe around 50 degrees as per the manual). Tank warmers also stayed on. Once we arrived home, it was in the teens and still needed to do a winterization. The elbow out of the waste tank and valve was frozen. I used a small electric room heater to warm it up. It freed up nicely and I was able to drain and properly dispose of the waste (what fun!!!!). I also used the heater to thaw out the water tank drain. Worked like a charm! Once that was squared away, I blew out the lines with 40 PSI of air and then pumped in 3 gallons of RV antifreeze.
This post is more an FYI for those worried / concerned / curious about freezing temps with your BC. Have fun out there!!!!
