Talking Basecamp Sighting!

Had a tour of the factory yesterday and saw a Base camp sitting out in the delivery area. Way cool.
More on my visit to Jackson Center tomorrow. Way tired. I drove from Jackson Center ot Iowa City today.

Anorexic!?

I prefer the term "healthy" for the 'run of the mill' AirStream.

The BaseCamp looks anorexic next to the 'healthy' one.... One owner's opinion

Base Camp sort of reminds me of my girls' horse trailer from showing days! ~G Still and all, it's going to get some people started in the streaming tradition which is a "good thing."

Has the thought occurred that the Basecamp just may last for 50 years or more, be wildly popular, and spawn a re-tenting mini-industry?

I think they're neat.

I'm with Max and Georgia. I know some folks who might like to put their Shetlands in there!

I for one kinda like the look of it... wonder how much it weighs? Having just spent the weekend riding our bicycles out of Ashboro NC I can see our bikes in it and us towing it behind Airstream One. At 28' I'm kinda out of room with my long wheelbase bike in the back. It get's in the way of the door to the head, or worse the door to the fridge!

Look in the background

Look at the trailer to the left of the basecamp and then to the background behind it. Looks like an airstream that has been seriously mis-handled. Do they "re-skin" damaged Airstreams at the factory?
cheers, bill b.

Yes, they do. For enough money, they will probably dust off their plans, and build you a brand-new vintage coach, too.
BTW, the coach you saw had been rolled over.

Anyone seen the new Trailer Life issue? Nice article on Wally and the Airstream legend. On the first page it shows Wally standing next to a teardrop shape that he made in 1933......looks like the prototype for the Basecamp. Sure wouldn't mind having the trailer shown in the photo .

they will do anything you ask to your airstream. It just takes money. They are currently rebuilding the presidents (of airstream)vintage unit. They say he is paying for it.....
