Question Basecamp Rear Tent question

My wife and I are newbie’s to RVing and are very happy with our new Base Camp. Our first attempt was to set up the rear tent. We got it up despite the poor instructions that came with the tent and general on-line videos. We have two polls left over which are 60” long and have spikes on each end, one spike longer than the spike on the opposite end. Does anyone have an idea what we did wrong. Thank you.

It's too bad your dealership didn't go through that with you...but the good news is it gets easier every time to set up the tent. Those extra poles are to make an awning from one of the outside flaps, if you wish.

Another tent question.

My dealer did not attach the metal toggles that hold the tents to the trailer. Since going back to the dealer is impractical, I shall have to install these myself. That does not seem to difficult. One only needs to attach them with the provided self drilling screws. The problem is where. Could someone with the tents take a picture of the trailer showing the location of the toggles? Also I am concerned about water leaks caused by drilling and screwing them on. Should I put sealent behind them?

Thanks

If you have the tent, I'd suggest laying it out and placing the skirt up against the black moulding at the bottom of the body.

While it wouldn't hurt to use some sort of sealant as you mount the toggles, my impression is that any water that sneaks by the fittings is not going to go into the body and will drain out the bottom of the moulding.

Here are pics of mine, but I would suggest using the photos generally. You really need to lay out the skirts and mount the toggles to fit as you go along. The last thing you want is being even 1/8" too short. The skirts will not stretch.

I am in a similar situation but I didn't receive the mounts for the tent. I was wondering if anyone has close-ups of the mounts and screws used. I found what looks like the right mounts online but they have an option of 6mm or 8mm mount depth. I'm imagining the 6mm would be best to keep things tight as long as it fits the rings on the tent. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.l

thanks for the pictures - will post them to the facebook forum as well. we got our tents free as part of the promotion by airstream. dealer wants about $250-300 to install as the time it takes to put up the tents. This confirms where I thought they would be mounted (along the black edges). Will do this myself. again many thanks
