2017 Base Camp

Congratulations! I want one in the worst way but can't justify it since we have a 2006 Safari, 25'. If I was single I would buy one in a minute but my wife wouldn't like me leaving with the dog without her! Ha!

Can you leave the dog with her and get another dog?

Awesome. Please let us know how it goes with the new Basecamp. I'm looking at picking one up in the spring since I live in Upstate NY. A 16' Older Bambi is also on the list but, I keep coming back to the Basecamp. I also have an FJ, how does it tow and handle with the Basecamp. Enjoy and be safe!

I would absolutely love to hear and/or see real world opinion or a video from a non-dealer. The important stuff,,,how well does it heat up, how well does it cool down, how many decibels does the a/c unit put out on the inside and outside, how well does it warm water up, bed comfort,,,,...

Some of these dealerships (not Haydocy, airstream store, or colonial) are flooding youtube with these "airstream basecamp" videos that are NOT videos,,,,pathetic photo collage videos from the brochures and the airstream site. Ridiculous!

Looks like lots of great improvements over the original Basecamp.

Hope that it works well for you. Looking forward to hearing about your camping experiences in your Basecamp.

Update: 1st 24 hours in Bascamp

We stayed our first night in the basecamp. For us, it was a great night. Had to use the ac for a little while last night. Little humid. This may not be for everyone, but we love it.
Details:
Ac cools down fast. Didn't need heat yet
Hot water: still working through the kinks. Very hot water, Need to be gentle when mixing cold. If not, very cold shower. Took awhile for initial hot water.
Microwave: awesome
Vents: work really well
Bed: very easy to setup. I would suggest buying a thermarest pad for under cushions. We used these in our RoofTop Tent. Made for a more comfy sleep
Fridge: works. Nothing special
Towing: very easy. Easy to back into site. As you see in pics, able to fit 2 vehicles

Wife has to work Monday. I will be out 2 more days

Looks good. Can't tell from the photo; are you using any sort of WD or anti sway hitch setup? We will tow with a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 6200 lb. tow capacity, built in anti sway and self leveling air suspension. My plan is to start out with no additional hitch attachments.

Did you set the full bed up or use each individual bunk?

Do you think that the issue with regulating hot water is specific to the combi heater or might the shower valve be clunky?

Keep the reports coming. You appear to be the only member of an exclusive club right now.

Oh, I seem to recall someone commenting that the A/C was a it on the oud side. What's your take on the sound level?

Thanks for the photos and report, dks233. Speaking of the TV what setup are you using? Amazon Fire, Apple TV or did you have CATV at that campsite? Satellite maybe?

And welcome to the forum!

Happy Trails.

2nd night report

No special hitch necessary for me

Bed:
1st night was the full bed and 2nd night was the half (rh side). Full bed is better for night sleep. Half is good for a nap.
Shower:
Clunky faucet seems to be culprit. Night 2 was better

Ac:
It is noisy but I sleep with a fan anyways. No biggie for me

TV:
No antenna reception or wifi. Too far from city. Utilized Sunday ticket app, slingbox, movies on phone, and adapter to tv. unlimited data helps.

Bose Speaker:
Works really well. Small and compact but sounds good. There are better options out there but maybe not as compact.

Palmetto state park is really quiet and nice this time of year

Wow that half bed size looks awesome for one person! I didn't know it did that. I assumed it only folded out full size.
