There are two means of acquiring the manuals for which you are searching. One is to watch E-Bay, where you will often find owners' manuals as well as service manuals being offered "For Sale" - - the one thing to be aware of is that Airstream didn't start publishing service manuals for its products until 1972 - - your 1971 coach is likely similar enough to the 1972 models that much of the information would apply to your coach as well.

The second possibility would be to obtain copies (photocopies of the original documents) from Secretarial Services as follows:

Quote:
Q: I need an owners and service manual for my Airstream. Where can I get one?
A: The first owners manuals were published in 1964. Prior to that, the owner received a brown envelope containing parts lists and other helpful information on the accessories in his trailer. The VAC has started making these available in the Members Archive section. A service manual with instructions for performing service operations did not exist until 1972.
You can get photocopies of owners manual (1964+) and service manuals (1972-1986) from:

Helen Davis Secretarial Services
PO Box 484 Sidney, OH 45365
(937)492-8885

Prices are about $33 and $70 respectively. After 1986 the Owners Manuals included available service information.
*The above information is quoted from: http://www.airstream.net/FAQ/FAQ_3.html#Manuals .

Good luck with your Excella!

Kevin

Welcome to the forum, we sound like we are in the same aluminum covered boat, just picked up our 31' 71 excella on Tuesday. And actually have all the original manuals. It's pretty big to copy unless there's a place that does it. Not sure what it would cost but if you can't find anything else we could look into it. It's the 72 manual and the Excella 500 one as well. Great details and all the assemblies of..well...everything.
We just started looking at what we need to do to get it to our standards and would love to swap info.
Cheers

New 1971 Excella 500 Owner

Hi! We just purchased a 1971 Excella 500 in great condition. Does anyone have the service manual with the floorplan listed? I've seen some images on here. Any ideas of sites to draw my own to start my renovation plans?

I am afraid that you won't find a service manual for 1971 Airstreams as one wasn't published until 1972 for the 1972 models. Much of the information for the 1972 coaches would be appliable to your 1971. You can purchase a reproduction of the 1972 manual from the Airstream Company Store. You can, however, obtain a reproduction of your coach's owners' manual from the Airstream Company Store. You can also find additional data about your coach on the Airstream Corporate Site.

Good luck with your coach!

Kevin
