Like a used car, condition, condition, condition. All Airstreams, even if gently used as mine was when purchased two years ago, required a tremendous amount of work and money to be a safe enjoyable trailer.
I've replaced the axles with new modern brakes, upgraded to 16" wheels to use better Michelin tires available, removed most of the interior to replace water, electric, and heating systems, replace fabrics, and polished exterior.
These trailers were lighter (4,900lbs) then newer models with lightweight interiors. I pull mine with a 1970's Cadillac or a 1/2 F150.
Knowing much more now, I would use better quality Marine and Euro (truma.com) products. I want the I like the interiors of the early 70's Airstreams and choose to restore and improve the original interior with upgrades like an Italian (smaller metric) high BTU cooktop and custom Stainless steel sink and countertop. Attached is a picture of the Interior after many hours of work. Dream list is the Truma mover. See videos

Fun under appreciated models that deserve to be restored and enjoyed as when they were new!
