Fair price on new Michelins ???

Am having new 25 ft FC built and delivered mid- November. I just ask dealer for price to have the 15" GYM's replaced with 16" Michelin's. I was told they would keep my new tires and wheels and the up cost would be an additional $1850.00. I had him repeat it two more times to make sure I heard it correctly. What do you experienced AS owners think about this? Is it in line ??

You can get 3600 lbs.Aluminum wheels for about 100.00 each. Depending on what range Michelin tires you go for they can be $300.00 for Es.

The dealer recognizes the GYM have no value at all.

If the trailer has not been built yet he is what we call a "Stealer"

I got a quote earlier from ReliableRV in Springfield, for $400 per tire/wheel from the factory. That was for my 2002 Classic. I would then have both sets of wheels and tires.

I'm guessing the initial price of your trailer included wheels and tires, so the price you mentioned here to replace them with the 16" wheels and tires sounds high.

That is, of course if it is done at the factory.

The price of tires has gone through the roof over the past three years. $1850 isn't that far out of line. You might do better locally and sell the originals to offset the cost.

Imagine what tri-axle owners deal with! And we need a spare!

I have 10 E rated Michelins between the truck and trailer. It can get costly.

Michelin has a program with Family Motor Coach where one buys the tires directly from Michelin and have them mounted at a dealer of your choise.

Maybe Air Forums could strike a deal.

I fall of 2011 I ordered tires from Tire Rack and wheels from Tredit. Carried them into Discount for a mount and balance. All in $1100 and change.

You can get Sendel wheels for about $115 shipped from : 16 inch Aluminum Trailer Wheels Free Shipping over $75.

and Michelin LTX tires off ebay for about $675 delivered. See: New LT225 75R16 10 Michelin LTX Winter Tire 115 112 R Set of 4 | eBay

Total about $1135. Add $100 for mount and balance. You might be able to reuse the OEM center caps, just verify size and match with wheels you order. So....$1235. Keep the Goodyears and Marathons and as soon as the trailer is in your possession, yank them off and put them on Craigslist $450. Brings the upgrade down to $785.
