Where to get a Metal Cooktop Exhaust Vent Cover

I am looking for a metal Cooktop exhaust vent cover for my 1966 Safari. I know they exist...I have seen them. I dont want an ABS one as I think it really does an injustice to the entire concept of an A/S. Any help would be appreciated.

The vents on 68's were plastic from the factory. Vintage Trailer Supply has an excellent reproduction and it is painted to match the trailer.

Range vents

JC has them in the store. The ABS/plastic one is $7.50 or thereabouts. The aluminum one is about $68 or in that range. Yikes! Very nice, but no lock downs. While the plastic one does have lockdowns to keep it from flapping in the wind. The mounting holes for both are exact fit.

Thanks for the responses. I know the originals were plastic and the last hail storm took mine out. I would like a metal one I can polish up, I know they are out there. Larry / Lou, where are you saying I can but these at. The plastic one sounds too cheap from what I have shopped around. I would be willing to pay the $68 to get a nice metal one.

Jackson Center

If you call down to Jackson Center to the Airstream factory, either Rhonda or Amy will give you a price on those parts...either the plastic or the aluminum one. The aluminum one is nice, but had no fasteners to keep it from flapping. We ended up with the plastic one because it is silver in color and we just couldn't justify the money for the metal one. You can get 5 or 6 plastic ones for the money!

Vintage or Modern Aluminum

When you call, ask whether the Aluminum one is Alclad or not. If you're polishing a vintage unit and the aluminum one is the "modern" aluminum it won't polish to match.

as loudr' mentions the a/s factory store has them (well they had 2 in june)

they are aluminum, but not alclad and have sorta a brushed finish.

there is also a stainless steel version that some dealers stock (i have one of them)

they look nearly identical but obviously aren't.

because the vent FLAP is heavier than the plastic version,

it needs 2b PROPPED open 2 function well OR the vent FAN needs to be robust or run on HIGH

here's a couple of threads with PICTURES of the stainless version many of us now have....

its possible 'timeless' the custom shop near you also has a metal version...

cheers
