Walbernize a stripped argosy?

New to the forum - glad to see so much useful information here. We're the new parents of a 1972, 22' argosy that's already been completely stripped. Looks like it's been that way for a while and it actually looks in pretty decent shape, skin-wise. There's only a tiny bit of surface rust on the end caps where they meet the aluminum (expected that), and I was planning on sanding that out.

I really like the metal look, and I know a lot of folks repaint their argosy's at some point. Would it be detrimental to leave it stripped and walbernize it twice a year? Would that be sufficient protection for the skin, especially the galv metal endcaps? Pix coming shortly

Thanks!

Thanks for bringing up the same question I have. Wife prefers painting fun colors, I am inclined to keep the metal look (can always paint later).

From what I have seen on Argosy Facebook group, I haven’t come across metallic look.

FLA & CA......close to the coasts? bare aluminum doesn't play well with a corrosive environment. I would re-paint. A quality job could mimic shiny al quite well.

Away from the coasts....

The Walberstuff is an older formulation, the newer polymer offerings will work much better and are just as easy to use.
