Treating Handle near door

We have a 2015 27FB FC that the handle near the door seems to have some kind of a build up on it -- it's metal - not aluminum although looks the same. Don't know what it is & how to clean?

Go can find a product called MET-ALL at most big box home centers like Lowes, Home Depot or Menards but all hardware stores should be able to locate it for you. It will clean and protect it for a period of time. I didn't like the thought of constantly maintaining it so after I used the MET-ALL I used a spray can of polyurethane to seal it with. Ed
