Those red numbers on the front...

Hi again everyone- I have been busy making no money but have a beautiful place to live for now. So to keep myself entertained I was wanting to restore the numbers you can barely see them in the metal...5880 I think. and I would like to paint them back in. What do I need to know? Thanks!

AIR-quarius - those shadows are numbers from a prior owner's WBCCI membership numbers. There is a thread in here somewhere about these and folks who research the numbers to tell you a little bit about the history. The numbers may or may not still be available to you if you become a member in the WBCCI.

Here's ours:

If you don't join WBCCI and still want to paint in the ghost numbers, please use a color other than red. People who display the Big Red Numbers® who haven't paid their WBCCI membership dues would be doing a dis-service to those who have paid for the privilege of displaying the numbers.

Since they're "ghost" numbers, maybe white would be a good color for a non-WBCCI member to use…

My '57 has ghost numbers...I think they look cool just the way they are. Probably won't look into replacing them, as my number is no longer available and I don't want to change it. I vote for leaving them as ghost numbers....

I would have to decide which set of 4 ghost numbers to display... at the moment if you stand just right you can see all of them. Plus I have the Wally Sticker up there too.

I would just leave them as ghost numbers unless you plan to join the WBCCI, if you do you can request the number if it is not already in use.
