The Flags up front...

Happy Forth to you all out there in U.S.A land. I was curious about the two flag arrangement that I have seen on the fronts of parked and decked out Airstreams. What is holding them in place and what all can you tell me about the choice of flags? Thanks Bill

Choice of flags are different for different people and/or situations.

First off the flags are held by a flag holder usually mounted on the jack support. The number of flag holders vary as to how many flags will be displayed.

As an example in my case I display the American flag, the Florida flag and the President flag of our WBCCI Suncoast Unit in southwest Florida.

It gives us a way to celebrate the flags of our country and state. It is good time to utilize the flag holder (4th of July)!

Our flag

I always fly the American flag.BUT always follow the Etiqette for displaying the flag.
"The American flagis a symbol of our country and of patriotism to our country.Because it represents the nation,it isconsidered a living thing and should be treated with respect at all times."
Have a nice 4th of July.

And please remember to take the flag down before sunset, unless you light it. And it comes down in any rain/bad weather. Treat it like your best friend!!

I bought my flag holder from John Leake (Sandlapper), who does a beautiful job fabricating them. As already noted, they fit on the jack housing. I have installed an LED floodlight on John's flag holder that I wired into my system so my flags will be lit!

Loudruff,
Thanks for the reminder. It amazes me how many "Americans" don't know this.

Just got a flyer from Harbor Freight. They have a Solar Flagpole light on sale for $19.99 w/ batteries.

I might just have to go out and buy one at that price!

Anyone know where to find the (flag Poles). I know that Armstrong extension poles are suppose to work, but I just can't find the aluminum ones.

Flags 101

3x5 is very typical flag size. The thin ones fly the easiest in least amount of breeze.

Lowes' pole is their Blue Hawk Brand #06034. Aluminun, fluted casing, Chinese made. You will need to knock the blue handle off the end.

MrLongArm #9272 . Aluminum, smooth casing, USA made in Missouri. Check HD, Menards, TrueValue, even the mom/pop hardware stores. My favorite. Nice nylon plug in the end to help protect things.

Either will do a fine job and are inexpensive.

Check out the flagholder thread by Kellylietzel. More details there.
