Aren't the windows on an RV supposed to be a different kind of glass than what is used on a house (e.g. vinyl windows)?

Doesn't offend me. It's better than sending it to the recycler as scrap.

The owner of any RV has the property rights to change it any way they want. If they like it, it is their to do what they want. Spartans have nice birch plywood inside them, but they are not very good travel trailers.

Hear, hear. I completely agree with your sentiment as I'm sure Airstream purists would come at me with pitch forks and burning effigies for what I have done to my 310 turbo diesel. What! vinyling over the fake Walnut MacTac, sacrilege!
Get over it, it's not yours and you don't have to stay in it.
Don't buy new, recycle and make it your own. Power to the recyclers!
Bravo

The big round thing is a hoot. I hope they have decent curtains.
As for what they did, I'm pretty ambivalent (it's their trailer, after all), I only wish they had painted the frames to match.

Sorry I'm a Canadian expat Brit; I allways thought the term "redneck" was a term of endearment and rednecks were proud to be called rednecks. No?
Cheers

I don't think there is a clear definition of redneck. You just usually know one when you see one. I think there is are certain levels or classes of redneck. . I think most trailer trash are rednecks, however most rednecks aren't trailer trash.

Better watch out--y'all may be getting cease-and-desist letters for trademark violation!

As for the subject of the original post--the trailer is up for sale. I suspect the owner is finding some of the "improvements" have negative resale value. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

As someone born deep in the South, redneck is only a mildly derogatory term meaning someone who tends to do just enough to get by, and nothing more.
Though I thought it was in poor taste, I also wondered about that big round hole. I think Spartans still somewhat maintained something like a monocoque design. I wonder if the lack of structure in that big hole would break that trailer on a big bounce down the highway.

robwok: "As someone born deep in the South, redneck is only a mildly derogatory term meaning someone who tends to do just enough to get by, and nothing more"
Being born, raised and some might even say inbred here in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, all the "Rednecks" I personally know work there butts off in jobs many folks would or could not do, some are even multi-millionaires that have given away more than most folks will earn in a lifetime and ask for nothing in return, not even a receipt to write it off their taxes.
Appears I must of grown up in a different south.
So as Isuzusweet said "I allways thought the term "redneck" was a term of endearment and rednecks were proud to be called rednecks. No?"
The answer would be "YES". At least in the south I'm from.
As far as the trailer, you can always buy it and put it back to original. Not mine to judge.
Enjoy,

I regularly read all the major news sites and often peruse the reader comments that accompany them.
The term redneck is usually spat out like an expletive by the worst, most bigoted - usually left leaning - people.
It is no term of endearment for sure.
I have begun calling people out for it.

I wonder what the big round window has done for towing integrity? Would the large cut out reduce strength of the structure? you tow this?

Good point Janet. I believe you are correct, The structural integrity has been diminished. Would have had a less of a negative effect on the structural integrity if the window was placed over or rear of the axle. The might have done the same thing on the other side as well.
