I have a 66 27 ft. Overland that received heavy damage to the top left front going back about 4 ft. from a large tree brace that came down during a wind storm. I think it can be repaired but its the cost that worries me. I live off of a military pension and 80% disability from the military so doesn't give me much to spend on repairs. are their any people who are seriously knowledgeable about repairing these things. I live in Massachusetts.
Thanks
Jack
Sorry to hear of your damage, Jack. How extensive is the dent/damage? Does it seem to be leaking. Photos would help in assessing the repairs needed. Skin panels can be replaced, do you think the framing is bent ?
Others here will hopefully chime in with repair shops near to you.
I will have to replace about 3 stringers/frame supports that the aluminum attaches too. as for the frame itself no damage did measure to determine straightness. plus had someone follow behind to see if it was off kilter. it moved smoothly so I don't see any issue there.
You can likely buy an equivalent used trailer in fair condition for less than it will cost to repair this one. Do you have any insurance on this one or householders insurance that might cover some of the expenses?
Ouch! Sorry to see that happen. Repair will be expensive and require some major experience working with aluminum. The cost for a professional shop would likely be much more than it's worth to find a replacement. Really sorry....best bet is if your insurance can cover it.
Sadly no insurance to cover it. I had it at a friends yard to restore we most of the inside taken out. then the winter came. and when we both went to check on it found the tree on it. enough said about that.
Thanks
Problem for me is I live off Military Disability. So money is not an easy thing to have available to buy another one. Thanks will probably strip at this point sell the aluminum and frame and take my losses.
This is a "Part Out" IMO. Unless this is an extremely rare model the cost to repair damage this extensive far outweighs the rig value. You good glass, an entry door, awning, etc.
Regards,
Kevin
