Rockgaurd install

Hi All, just got finished installing a very nice rockgaurd from Out Of Doors Mart on the Shiny Beast and I thought I'd share some things that came up during the install. First I watched the You Tube video and read the enclosed instructions we then lined up the unit in the way described and every thing looked good. pre drilled the mounting rail and located the centre line of the Beast, and drilled the centre #30 hole and this is where we first made a change from the instructions i used a Cleco in that hole and moved to the end and level the unit and drilled a 2nd Hole. Another Cleco and went to the other end and did the same. Drilled the other 4 holes and dismounted it. Used the 645 sealant on the back of the strip and screwed it to the skin, wiping the excess off and smoothing it for appearences sake. We then slid the rock gaurd in place and measuring down 5" as per the instructions drilled the holes for the arms. When I tried to screw in the #10 SS screws I sheared 2 off, I was very careful to lub them first and gently screwed them in and out as instructed. I then went into the shop and got out 10-32 tap and drilled an tapped the holes a3/8" lower. bolted every thing together OK and lowered the Rockgaurd to start the latches. The problem was that the support arms would not allow it to close all the way. The slide hit the mounting bracket. I redrilled and tapped at 4" and everything worked out fine in the end. Used 3/16 pop rivets to fill the exposed holes with 645 sealer.
The Shiny beast is a '75 RB Overlander, hope this is helpful.
