WE have a 1964 Trade Wind and the front and rear Airstream signs (?) are now black rather than blue, same for the "Land Yacht" / serial number placard,
Has anyone any experience restoring these with some high quality blue paint and then rubbing off the high spots to allow the aluminum to show?

Jim, I have done many of these the easy way. First strip and polish the whole sign, clean real good, then cover it with clear packing tape. With a sharp exacto knife cut around the letters and pull off the background leaving the letters and border covered. Spray with blue paint and when dry pull off the tape from the letters. 45 minutes top.

New front and rear plates are available at a very reasonable cost.
I did the same on my gt with rust oleum royal blue, held up for 6 yrs until I sold it. My 65 overlander has reproductions that look terrible already, I plan on painting them soon ! Also the paint I used holds up to polishing the trailer as well
