Replacing front skylight

I have a semi-recently purchased AS that has a missing front skylight. The dimensions are 24 "x 14". I have already purchased the only replacement part available for it off of VTS. But now I am left to make it work using the mounting pieces from one of the standard 14"x14" vents (which I replaced with fantastic fans). So here is the actual question: Can I rivet the hinged telescoping arms directly to the new plastic cover or do I need to try and fab a piece of metal to rivet too?

That part is called an "Astrodome".

It is also available in milk white and solar gray, both of which have a "thermal barriers.

The operators are riveted to the cover. Instructions and the rivets should have come with the cover.

Considering all the trouble folks are having with plastic components on their roofs, i think if i were you i would try to fabricate something out of aluminum to back up the plastic where the fasteners will be located.

So, not clear about your intentions. Are you wanting a SKYLIGHT or a vented opening?

Here's what I did as the replacement skylight "had issues"
like yours.
Pricy? yes but it will last forever and I get easy access to
the roof.
Check my earlier post as since I got drop box my photos
are "all over the shop"

Del - Your hinged skylight is exactly the sort of access port to the roof that I've been looking for to replace the 20 in square skylight on my International. What size is that? I'm installing solar panels on each side of my sky light and would like easy access to the roof and solar panel tilt bars.
