P&S is Polishing & Recoating Our Excella

We received some pictures today from P & S Trailer Service in Helena, Ohio today showing the progress of polishing & recoating our Airstream's exterior.
They reminded me that you have to break some eggs to make an omelet!
So far I'm liking this omelet!

A family business since 1968

P & S Travel Trailer Service are also farmers in a lovely part of the country. I love how you can see the shiny Airstreams parked outside for about a mile away as you approach their place.

The Clear Coats are Coming, the Clear Coats are Coming!

Today I got an update from P & S. The clear coat has been applied!
Lookin' good!
I'm thinking that I should not re-decal stripe her since she'll spend 6+ months/year in South FL and it may look good enough without it.
Any thoughts?

P&S is Polishing & Recoating Our Excella

I'd decal and stripe it with the blue insert and get some shiny rims to compliment.

I'd leave the stripe off. One less thing to replace in 5-10 years!

It needs the stripe. Looks unfinished and wrong without it. It needs the proper decals and stripes for the year it was built. It's not a 60's Airstream so I wouldn't try to make it look like one. Respect the era in which it was built. BTW, I thought they removed more parts before they coated these trailers but it's much faster to just tape off windows and such rather than painstakingly remove stuff. Also, hope they polish out that clear coat...looks a bit hazy or almost a matte finish; it's not quite mirror-like.

But it definitely needs the stripe. Definitely.

Nekkid as a jaybird! - I concur especially after the blue plastic (rub guard?) is replaced in the channels around the middle and over the belly wrap.

The shiny rims & upgraded 16" Michelin's are being installed by P & S as well.

I agree with putting in the blue inserts, just not a blue decal stripe around the trailer. Maybe because I'm in the process of removing the adhesive left behind from an old decal. Not a cake walk!

If you're worried about keeping it to the era appearance original, then polishing is not original appearance. Do what you want, it's yours, and it looks great.

Your trailer is going to look great!

Please keep posting pictures of the progress, I'm especially interested in the 16" wheels/tires. In another four years when our current tires will be old enough to be replaced, we'll upgrade to 16's.

Yes, thank you! Since I turned a '91 Excella into an Atomic Modern era interior. I did not care about keeping to it's original theme/age.

I think the best outside for the inside of our trailer will be void of a decal stripe as it is more atomic without it. And thank you for those that also confirmed the extra maintenance needed as it will surely crack, fade and peel in the extreme Florida sunshine.

Now I need to get a hold of P & S to let them know to hold off on the decal. I hope its not too late! We'll soon see...

Here are a few interior shots before & after:

Ooooh, I had forgotten you had the beautiful white interior. Fabulous inside and out.

Looks great! I think I'd put a silver band in the beltline & rubrail! You have to put something, I think, because of the rivet line in there....not the best look without something IMHO. Black might tie in with your interior too. Great job!

Indeed Becky B, they'll be replacing the blue rubber/plastic gasket along the beltline & rub rail with new material. I thought the blue (used like a condiment ) was just enough color to keep it from being too silver. It will be the appropriate tie in when the awnings are down too.

If you have a blue awning, absolutely!
