Looking for Exterior Specailist.

I bought a salvage rebuilable 2005 28ft International CCD. It is in St. Louis. I need to find someone between St. Louis MO and Syracuse NY that could have trailered there so it can be repaired. Does anyone have any reccommendations?

I am not certain whether I totally understand your question. My interpretation is that you are seeking a repair shop between St. Louis and Syracuse to make repairs to the exterior or your Airstream. There are three places that come to mind:
  1. Bill Thomas RV, 101 Thomas RV Way Wentzville, Missouri 63385, 636-327-5900 Toll-Free 800-367-5767.
  2. Airstream, Inc., 419 West Pike Street, P.O. Box 629, Jackson Center, OH 45334-0629, 877-596-6111.
  3. P and S Trailer Service, 4702 W. US Highway 6, Helena, Ohio 43435, 419-638-6261.
Each of the three businesses above have been mentioned on the Forums with regularity where most mentions are mentions for their good service. I have dealt directly with P and S Trailer Service and am one of their very satisfied customers.

Good luck with your project.

Kevin

Just in case you need it, I second Overlander64's recomendations. You would be in good hands at any of them , maybe especially at Jackson Center.

Not intending to be nosy, but I considered buying a 28 foot CCD in 2005 - so I have a reasonable idea of what one would cost used in good condition. It might quite conceivably cost more to repair yours than it would to find and buy a good one. A single curved end segment will cost about $1400! And last I remember seeing posted hauling cost for a trailer is $1.75 - $2.00 per mile... I'd guess it's higher now because of fuel cost. So... Wentzville makes dollars and sense to me.

So, before you even consider having the trailer hauled to any of the fine facilities mentioned by Overlander64, take a Bunch of interior and exterior photos and send them to the repair shop(s) you're considering to get a preliminary estimate. Make sure you get a full length side view from each side to help the estimator see if there is obvious frame damage. Do some underside photos too.

Also find out about the difference between a salvage title and a clear title in your state. Salvage title may make the unit unsalable even after repair.

But IF

you decide to go ahead, I can second both the Mother Ship and P&S as good places to get work done. Both have worked on my trailer, and I've been happy with both. Neither is cheap.
