I damaged the Classic on the first wash also, don't feel alone.
I was lucky, I noticed them before doing the second panel.
I used 3m compounds
to remove the scratches, using a Porter Cable Orbital polisher. (can be done by hand, not fun.)
If you can't feel the scratch with your fingernail you should be able to polish it out. Just takes a bit of time.
IMHO......This is the ONLY thing to use when washing the AS.
I'm sure their polishing compounds
would also work well.
Sealed with the paint sealer.
I seal once a year.
You won't go wrong with any of their car care products.
PS...once done don't use a fabric trailer cover or you'll be doing it all over again. Been there too!
