Flag Pole Holder Installation

I had ordered a pair of flag pole holders and poles for our Airstreams and had to get a little creative in attaching the holders to the jack stand tubes. Both coaches have the large motorized head and just attaching the holder directly to the pole would cause the jack head to interfere with the center flag pole. So I went to the local hardware store and rummaged through the miscellaneous nuts and bolts until I came up with something to use as a stand-off from the jack stand tube. I do not know what they are called, but they are 9/16" hexagonal and threaded all the way through. I added some flat and lock washers, bolts, and 2 1/4" muffler clamps. I primed and painted the guillotine part of the clamp black to match the jack stand tube. Then I added two coats of clear Plasti Dip to the "U" bolts. This afternoon I finally got to install one on our '87. Tmorrow I will install the other one on the '06

The rain and wind finally stopped here so I was able to get to our '06 and get the flag pole holder installed. Here are a few pictures of the finished install.

Pretty Clean !

I think the trade would refer to them as " Coupling Nuts " Good idea !

Is that the flag holder from "Pole-Ease" ?
Are those the $15 generic painter's poles I have been reading about ?

sweet! you know, you could take it a step further, and flip the flag pole holder around. then you'd have a flat surface facing forward, to which you could mount an outdoor electrical box...to which you can mount a 12v landscape light fixture to point up, and "alluminate" the flags at night.
(power it from the jack's power lead).

B4WEDI,
Thanks for the technical term. Yes the holder and poles came from Pole-Ease.

Chuck,
I did see a thread here where a light was mounted on the holder to shine up on the flags and it looked pretty cool and fairly easy.
If I were to turn the holders around to get that flat surface I would need to add another set of the coupling nuts as the jack head would interfere withthe poles again. I'll see what I can come up with and post it when I get it done.

Here's the link to the other post that shows the addition of a light.

I purchased one of Rob's holders. I installed it using Carl's (Deitz 645) method and I worked great. Easy install and it seems to be nice and secure.
