Exterior Amber lights...the horror of being discontinued

Why are the 60s Amber teardrop running lights impossible to find? I've called dozens of places and checked every site in the world...discontinued :-(

Hey CRaig,
Vintage trailer supply has both the complete lights or just the Amber lenses.

Unfortunately they are discontinued there.

I'm thinking of making them myself using aluminiye molding: http://www.alumilite.com/PDFs/Printables/How%20to%20make%20molds/Tail-Light-Molding-with-Equipment.pdf

5 of these lights just SOLD on eBay for $216!! I just need the lenses.

They are discontinued on that site. Not available. Most likely never again. Both the light and the lens.

I need them in amber/yellow/orange the teardrop shape. All 5 lenses. I'm restoring a 1962 Safari and they are all trashed, but the light housing is there.

This thing won't let me post pics or we links. Strange.

I found a product called alumilite and I can make these lenses for about $12 a piece. Sure beats the $35 a piece someone just paid on eBay.

Try e-bay or Colaws salvage... or any other RV Salvage yard.

As you know a lot of RV manufacturers use the same parts, so you might find an old wreck of a canned ham with those lights. When I was out west I went through a lot of crossroad towns in Utah and Nevada, saw Trail Manors, all sorts of canned ham trailers, and UCK, most of them appeared to be storage sheds or hen houses, so keep your eyes peeled. Hunting camps, lakeside cottages (not the upscale ones), etc. seem to breed these trailers especially in the back alleys.

Noticed you're in St. Petersburg. SW Georgia and the panhandle of Florida (away from the oceanfront) seem to have a lot of rotting away trailers, too.)

Happy Hunting.

Paula

Can they all be replaced with a similar size/style?
Period correct would be excusable I think.
