I'm starting my first project on a 68 22" Safari. Can I spray the skin with a stripper from Home Depot to remove what's left of the clear coat and clean it off with a power washer?
Yes, at the age of your trailer, there probably isn't much left on there anyway. I find that the orange Citrus-Strip worked well, and have also used the "Aircraft Stripper" that is sold at Auto parts stores. Either way, you might have to go over it more than once, or at least use an "after-wash" to get the residue. Just don't try doing it right in the heat of the day in full sunlight, and don't get too impatient.
I found when stripping the clear coat off my AS, I thought stripping it piece meal was the way I wanted to go. I felt that the some residue from washing etc. would remain in the moldings, decals, light gaskets etc.. I was and am not willing to take that chance to make more work besides stripping the clear coat.
