On a safari for our Safari

Got the word from our dealer in Draper Utah. Our 20'Safari SE has arrived. We leave tomorrow AM, Sunday 12/10 from San Diego. It's a two day drive. Could not have timed it better, weatherman says rain at this end and snow at the other end. After reading all on the Equal-I-Zer hitch thread by Silvergate we plan to go with the 10,000/1000# model as we have a dry tongue weight of 600#. The TV is an F250 4x4 diesel. Andy of InLand RV didn't say how long it would take for me to tear the AS up with this hitch and TV set up but to tell the truth I am more worried about pulling my new Safari through all the snow and rain coming back. Think we will stop at Zion National Park for a couple of days to settle my nerves. We are hoping it will be pretty deserted at this time of year. You can believe we will check to make sure the heating system is working to specs on our dealer walk through, not sure about checking for water leaks as it has been below freezing this last week. Wish us luck. Jan and Jerry
PS, Think we will be leaving the three English Setters home

What a happy holiday for you. Will your three dogs become travelers after this break-in safari home? Your stay in Zion should be wonderfully relaxing, a fine time to learn more of the delights of your new Airstream. Best wishes for many years of camping and safe travels. Be sure to post your trip home experiences here on the forum! ~G

Have a Happy and Safe Safari, fellow San Diegan!

God-speed and travel safely on your mission to pick up your
2007 20’ Safari SE LS!
You have diligently done your research…
And made excellent choices in choosing your trailer, Airstream,
And truck, the Super Duty F-250 PSD,
And WD Hitch, the 10,000/1000 lb. Equal-i-zer with 4-Point Sway Control.
All choices that I also have recently made after extensive research.
As I recently mentioned in my Community Poll Equal-i-zer thread,
I contacted other forum members who have a 2006-2007 23’ Safari,
That has the same dry tongue weight as your trailer…
And all who have gotten back to me have the 10,000/1000 lb. Equal-i-zer,
Except one who had SOB due to a special situation with his Hummer.
You have a lot going for you… and a little luck wouldn’t hurt…
Good Luck Jan and Jerry!

We love Zion. The Watchtower campground is open all year and has electrical hookups at the RV sites. The park should be peaceful this time of the year. We spent a week there last year November and had a great time. Good luck on your trip and please post some photos.

Sounds like an exciting time for you folks. Good luck. We'd love to see the new toy at the NorCal Rally in 29 Palms in January. Only a hop, skip, and a jump from San Diego.

Coratulations!

WOW! What a nice trip to be able to "break in" your new Safari. You may never want to stop and will decide to just keep on motoring!

Enjoy and don't forget to share the pictures with us!

safari for the Safari is a success

We have returned form Draper Utah to San Diego with our new
20'Safari SE. We waited up in Park City nearly a week for a weather window. No one had to twist my arm to go skiing with a foot and a half of fresh powder. The winter drive home was exciting with spots of black ice and snow past Vegas. It's winter and the storms are lined up.
With two hands on the wheel and no speeding all went well The AS, the TV, and the Equal-I-Zer hitch all performed as advertised. Except in some areas of heavy traffic I hardly knew it was back there. The silver glow in the rear view mirror was the give away. As there was 6" of snow along Hwy 15 near the Zion exit, another storm coming in that night, and Zion being at even higher altitude we opted to pass on visiting there as previously planned. Woke up in Vegas in the morning with snow on the rig.
The quality control of AS construction seems to have improved considerably as compared to previous year posts. No major problems. I will post on the Safari 2007 thread after our Christmas trip to Tucson. Gotta show the in-laws the new baby.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, 3DogNight

Congrats!

Glad things went well.

Take your time to make the "warrenty" list of things to get worked on. Fire off everything and camp in it a couple of times. Somethings are not obvious the first look.

Happy Homecoming Jan, Jerry... and new baby!

Congratulations on your safe and successful return to paradise, San Diego…
With your new baby… a 20’ Safari SE LS!
Glad you got in some skiing.
Good idea skipping Zion due to weather (better safe than sorry)!
Glad to hear the AS, F-250, and Equal-i-zer all performed well together.
Happy to hear QC of AS construction seems to have improved…
I just learned that our 23’ Safari just came off the production line!
Looking forward to your post following your trip to Tucson & the in-laws.

Happy Holidays!
