Nice Airstream! I like these -- good bed placement and the most weatherproof door away from theside of the awning.

Like the proverbial garden gnome shots, we'll love pictures from everywhere!

Your TV Trailer combo appears to be down in the middle. Have you checked tv and trailer measurements front and rear.

Bad idea.
You need to get the transfer of weight from your trailer to your tow vehicle.
Do you use a WD hitch? if not you need one. If so it is not set up correctly or your bars may be too small.

Great looking Airstream. I am partial to the contemporary lines of the Safari interior, myself.

I'm a total neophyte when it comes to hitches so bear with me if I'm way off base but it looks like you have a Equal-i-zer hitch as best I can tell from the photos. It also looks like your spring bars are not parallel to the A-frame. My guess, and it is only a guess, is it could be a couple of things. You may be able to take care of this by moving the set screw up in the L-bracket to the next hole. Generally, you start in the 5th hole from the top so you may want to move up to the next hole from where you are now...this is the easiest first step to try. If this doesn't level your tow vehicle you will want to move on to the head unit. You may need to add washers behind the angle set bolt in the head unit. Generally you start with 5 washers. It could also be that you need to raise the head assembly to the next holes on the shank. If you are as green at these things as I am, I would recommend taking your whole rig to a hitch shop or to your dealer. Since my dealer is some 200+ miles away, I took mine to my local utility trailer dealer for tweaking after I had the trailer loaded the way we will use it. I would also recommend horse trailer dealers and other livestock trailer dealers. You'd be surprised at what they can offer. To them a trailer is a trailer but the deal in a lot of them.

You want your tow vehicle to be as level as possible with as much tongue weight evenly distributed as possible between all three axles (trailer axle, rear tow vehicle axle, and front tow vehicle axle). It is especially important for the front axle to have its share as this will affect the traction you have with your steering. It will minimize the sway tendencies of the trailer and give you a much more comfortable towing experience because of reduced sway and better control of the rig. Your head lights will also be aimed at the road better and you will be more comfortable with night driving...not to mention the oncoming traffic won't be blinded by your upward pointed headlights.

Hey tfm,

Don't feel picked-on by thecatsandi: she isn't trying to pick on you, just wanting to help and be safe. That said, I've learned a lot about towing from http://www.airforums.com/forums/f464...ars-23809.html

BTW, you have a very nice trailer! Congrats.

BTW, you have a very nice looking combo!

I also noticed that your weight is not being distributed to the front wheels by the hitch. I can not offer much advice because I have a different hitch (Reese) setup. Weight is transfered byputting pressure on the bars. The bars on my Reese have a visable bend to them when they are setup correctly. Your bars appear to be very straight. A minor adjustment is all that you should need. Air bags and extra leafs will raise the rear, but they will also stiffen the ride for your trailer.

Great Fun and do enjoy but I have to agree with Michelle on this one. Your hitch set-up is off balanced. Air cushions or added leaf are NOT what you need. The hitch is not set up properly, have it checked ASAP. What a great AS trailer and I know you are going to have lots and lots of fun and happy memories!

What is being said...

Hi Mike - Make a simple set of measurements to the top of each of the four wheel openings on your Nissan. With the proper weight spring bars and the proper number of links engaged, the tow vehicle should settle approximately equally -- all four measurements should lessen by about the same amount.

From the looks of that picture you have an equalizer. The bars are all the way up. Your head had no tilt. Find the instructions and set it up or have someone else who knows what they arte doing set the hitch up properly.
WHen everything is setup up properly the trailer should be level as well as the truck.
