Where is the best and safest place to put my jack stands under my trailer when I am working on it. Right now I placed 6 of them under the trailer and it doesn't fell as steady as I would like it.

Why not just run the trailer up on a ramp. If you need one axle free, run the other one up on a ramp.

There is really only one good place to jack an AS. Jack it up, drop the tongue and put the stands under the axle mounting plates.

Also, you can leave the trailer connected to the tow vehicle, and set the parking brake on the tow vehicle, and lower the tongue jack until it takes part of the tongue weight. This will help eliminate back-and-forth rocking, if you have to have both wheels on one side off the ground.

Wood Blocks are the way to go. I made ramps and used the triangle pieces that were cut off to make wheel chocks to keep the trailer from rolling off of either end of the ramp. They worked great for my axle change.
