Whats underneath carpet in my 2005 25' Safari

I was told there is Stainless under the carpet on the walls, is this correct? I hate the carpet and would like to have something else but is the finish underneath OK?

Under the "mousefur" on the walls is aluminum, but keep in mind that the upholstery covering is glued to the aluminum, so removing it and getting down to clean metal is a non-trivial exercise.

Why don't they just leave the whole interior aluminum? Why is the mouse fur on the walls? Seems like it should be on the ceiling and the vinyl should be on the walls. Is it maybe to make the trailer warmer and less drafty?
