whats behind bathroom fiberglass?

I have a 20ft 67 globetrotter and am considering gutting the bathroom and starting over. My question is, what will i find behind the yellow fiberglass shell? Will I find aluminum or insulation or something else?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Joe

Insulation, but not much. I pulled my end cap to push out a dent in the tip but reinstalled it. When I considered the time needed to change it, I opted to keep things original. Glad I did. Painting the fiberglass is no problem if the color is your only issue.

I sure hope you replaced them. Those are the factory installed load-bearing cat treats.

thanks all!

I can see that there is aluminum behind the bottom half (I can peek under the sink) but had a hunch that it stopped at the belt line. Any suggestions on a material/technique on replacing it? I'm likely going to fit that area with another bedroom/sleeping quarters…just not sure how to finish out the walls.

thanks.

You might want to think about keeping the end cap. It can be fixed right up unless yours is real bad. They can be refinished, cracks filled and painted. I took mine out of my complete Reno and they are the only things going back in. ( and the wall panels)

It takes some skills to make curved end caps that will look good and function well.
Just a thought.

That's a good idea. Thanks for the tip...it's in decent shape so perhaps I keep it.
