Our 2001 Safari has the mouse fur walls except in the galley area where they used patterned vinyl covered laminate. The PO hot glued a picture behind the cooktop and it pulled off some of the vinyl. We are putting in an aluminum tile backsplash to cover up the damage. I cleaned all the mouse fur with the upholstery tool on a Bissell carpet cleaner after we bought it. Did a nice job. DW used oxyclean on some stains apparently created by condensation dripping off the aluminum window frames. Came pretty, but not perfectly, clean. It is very thin, only 1/16" or so on a Formica-like backing. But our 11,000 BTU AC has been doing a great job in 90 degree heat so I think the mouse fur has some insulating qualities. A white box we looked at was uncomfortable with a 13,500 BTU AC.

Search 2015 Classic. Colonial posted some pics. Looks sharp.

I don't mind the "mouse fur" inside my Classic. But what I really really REALLY hate is the term "mouse fur". Such an ugly term for something that is really not that bad.

Yea, I don't mind it at all either, and from reading this thread, I think there may be several different types of material being talked about here. Our Classic, and the ones we've had prior, had a type of carpet on the walls.

Steve, yes prototype....but we're right at introduction time....wonder when those pics were taken. I kind of like the fur and padded ceiling as well. It does insulate more than one would think....both noise and cold/heat. Maybe not thermally, but certainly conductively. (that's not a word, is it?)

Got it in my 2006 Classic. I clean it with carpet cleaner - cleans up nicely and is great for insulation.

That carpet-like stuff is what is called "mouse fur" by many. Not that it is a very nice term, but it is the name often used for the Ozite wall covering in many Airstreams. There are variations in it, but a pretty good illustration of one of those is here: Hytex - Ozite Rib .

At the dealer show of new models, the folks of Colonial, Patrick in particular, posted a short video of the interior of the new design Classic based loosely on the model 30 of 2014 for the floor plan. The dark cherry cabinets are surrounded by bare aluminum on walls and ceiling like the International Serenity models. There is a nondescript floor linoleum instead of the fake wood board stuff of prior years. We chose the flooring from the International Serenity for our Classic.

Instead of the 2014 Classic line having three model floor plans (27FB, 30 and 31) with a no charge choice of twin beds or a queen bed, there is only one floor plan for 2015 and no mention was made of a twin bed option. With the panorama windows now in the bedroom, there is much less apparent storage than before with just two small night stands.

The base price increased nearly 27% over the model 30, base price to $121,750 before options and delivery, so fully loaded will crowd low to mid $130,000s.

I don't necessarily object to the mouse fur, but it should be on the ceiling and the vinyl should be on the walls.
My primary objection is that it is white. The couch is light. The bedding is light. The curtains are white. I understand that the reason is to make it light and airy inside, but we travel with a black cat.

The 2015 has aluminum instead of mouse fur and padded vinyl.
It has cherry wood (I'm really not a fan) instead of the cheesy wallpaper coated plywood.

Our 1989 MH came with the mouse fur. DW could never find a good way to clean the aluminum dust. So she pulled it off and put some textured wallpaper up. Look here for some photos.

Thanks much, y'all have been very helpful!! Initially I thought the ozite (not mouse fur) was something I didn't want, but I think it would be fine. This forum is sooooo helpful!

When we were at the 2013 Ballon Festival in Albuquerque last October, the temperatures dropped into the 40s at night and our furnace would run. My arm would often get along side the bare aluminum wall and that cold would awaken me. I think the Ozite will prevent that awakening cold experience in our Classic. Sure hope so.

I will get to test that theory this October. Our first trip starts tomorrow, Memorial day, and the temperatures will be for the low 60s at night to the mid 70s in the day in Long Beacg, CA.

Our '04 has the furry walls. We appreciate them. Personally I would find it difficult to sleep with twin beds against a cold aluminum wall.
Bingo. I did not like it when I first saw it in a 2010 Classic model the dealer showed me. Ironically I bought a used Safari that has it! Now I appreciate it for insulation and for the reason above. It is the material used on some office cubicle walls and I have also seen it on choir risers with pad inserts over it. Industrial stuff.
