What color is Kool?

I'm restoring my first Airstream, a 62 Safari, it has latex house paint over original Zolotone, no peels. Almost ready to scuff what's there and paint - want to go with a vintage type color. Seems I read somewhere that there are paints available that are close to original colors and available at home centers? Anyone have some brand/color recommendations? Thank you.

Sherwin Williams has whole lines of paint color for different architectural eras. They were developed with a lof of careful research. I'm sure you won't be needing the "Victorian" or "Colonial" collections, but they have a set of "Modern" colors typical of the 50s and 60s, and one from the 40s called "Jazz Age" or something like that.

Anyway, I've been very happy with the "Arts & Crafts" paints for our 95 year old bungalow. I'm sure you'll get a lot of comments from people who will tell you to use the exact color from the original, but if you want to try others, but still be representative of the period, go check out a Sherwin Williams dealer.

hey 62 safari, My 60 trdwnd has latex wall paint inside.It looks fine ,not exactly my perfect color ,sort of a light tan .It was done very proffesionally back in the 60s by the original owner ,He even kept the paint can wrapper along with alot of stuff like that in the drawers ,original mantles and seals,light bulbs,the water filter o rings . pretty neat.I like the idea of color inside over the zolotone look .

We just finished painting the interior of our 1963 Bambi with zolotone paint. They didn't have the same color as original, but the one we used is similar and it turned out great! I think my husband posted some pics under his thread ... search for NorCal Bambi.
