vinyl coating on interior walls

I see much discussion on painting over the "sticky" vinyl interior wall finish.
assuming it is aluminum, is there a method to just remove it and have the aluminum as your interior finish? (obviously still learning my around Airforum)
thanks

It's much easier to find Spray 9 (Pep Boys, West Marine) to clean the sticky off.

Then paint the walls with Future floor acrylic.

It's available at grocery stores.

Since it was designed to walk on, it works great on the vinyl coating.

This is perfect timing for me on this subject. I found my old roof rack in the shed and it has a coating of sticky residue all over the plastic coated wire basket.
Next shopping trip I'l pick up some Spray 9 and Future floor acrylic.
Thanks!

I just went through this on my 72. Cleaned with Krud Kutter. Then use Future floorwax Here in NC Future was bought by Pledge, look for Pledge floor wax with Future shine. Don't use the knock off stuff, it wont shine as well. Thanks for this great tip Andy!

As an added benefit once the walls are clean and waxed you will immediately notice a great reduction in that "old Airstream smell"
