Steam cleanin'

Steam cleaned the carpet, upholstery, and mattresses (Sealy!) in our Excella last night. She is really starting to look good now. We have been very busy getting her all cleaned up in the last few weeks since we brought her home and are getting excited about our maiden AS voyage in a couple of weeks. I have been through all the suystem and everything appears to be in good order.
As mentioned previously, I own a Carpet and Upholstery cleaning/restoration business..if anyone has questions about how to (or how NOT to) clean any of your interior I would be more than willing to help.

On to the exterior next!

There have been numerous posts in the past about problems cleaning sticky walls and black streaks on fuzzy wall coverings. Perhaps you could explain what works well based on your experience with the steam cleaning. Thanks.

The best (and most expensive) way to remove the smell from the cushions is to replace the cushions.
We Febreezed the heck out of ours, and replaced the covers, which seemed to help a lot.

That is always a huge wrestling match...
me vs. the mattress when changing the sheets!

Arrrrgh! There must be an easier way.

(I hate to resort to plastic sheets and a garden hose)

ACK!

i have a four foot area to make up a full sized bed from one perch.

WHO thought this up?

install fitted mattress cover
install fitted bottom sheet
install top flat sheet
install blanket
install fitted comforter

you know, it's just easier to use the bed to store stuff on and sleep on the sofa, or after dragging your 'dream stream 809 miles to new mexico, just sleep over at somebody elses 'dream stream...

cheese w/ the whine sir?

just sayin...

Fantastic Fan Cleaning, Oh Joy!!!

friends, i have more good news about wonderful design and cleaning...

so like, i'm getting ready to head out to the Four Corners Unit Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico in a couple of weeks, and want the 'dream stream to be somewhat presentable... after all who wants to have dinner and cocktails in a bauxite love shack thats filthy... unless your a mouse or a designer of cool interiors and have no concept of that it takes to actually keep one clean...

Fantastic Fans are fantastic!

from the FanTasic Website:

Fan-Tastic Vent is light weight, compact, bug resistant, durable and seals tight when not in use. The sealed motor operates at variable or 3-speeds depending on the model for selected performance levels. Installs in minutes and fits the standard existing opening provided by most recreational vehicle manufacturers.

Whether your rig costs $5,000 or a million dollars, the quality of the air you breathe should remain your paramount objective.

HOLD ON ONE SECOND THERE BUBAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Have You Ever Cleaned One? Mr Factory Advertisment Person????

NO..... NOT POSSIBLE...

follow along whilst we clean not one, but two... (i have one fore 'n aft)

photo's from my vintage '05 CCD International... real vintage... all 18 months of it...

pics 01 & 02 show just how dirty things can get, whether your rig costs 5,000 or a million dollars, ah Mr. Fantastic Company?

the screens which were filty were removed so i could better detail in the photo's.

pic 03 - remove outer trim ring.

pic 04 & 05 - remove inner trim and controls.

pic 06 - screens cleaned, waiting to be reinstalled.

pic 07 - the fan, inner and outer trim have been cleaned. however through FANTASTIC design, you can't clean the upper fan "HUB", so... you have everything cleaned and your date thinks your still a slob (whether its a 5,000 rig or a million dollar rig!)...

so i came up w/ a nifty little design feature... the "FANTASTIC HUB ART COVER" burning patent pending...

see pic 08 - i made a template using Holographic self adhesive paper, cut it out and placed on the fan hub. it may not be clean, but i don't have to look at the filth...

pic 09 - holographic paper installed.

pic 101 - cleaned, ready for screen install (shown w/o for pic clarity)

i love good advertising and poor design...

allow 1 ½ hours per fan the first time (take it apart, clean, put it all back together).

It would also appear from taking everything apart that the fan openings leak water. Given that were in a drought in so. Calif., having only maybe one inch of rain where I live in the last 18 months, I’d check any fantastic fan opening to make sure it’s weather tight. The construction of these units doesn’t build confidence in me… if I lived in Oregon or Washington state, I’d store my unit INDOORS.

the screen comes off quickly.

you can't clean the unit completely with out taking the whole thing apart. the upper and lower fan blades. the outer "ring blade assembly", the upper "hub" assembly... how about between the inner and outer trim assembly? my FANTASTIC FANS were made in 2005, perhaps other models are easier to COMPLETELY clean. these things get filhty. shouldn't there be a better way to clean them, then removing the entire unit?

take ten pictures, show me how you clean yours without taking it all apart?

love to know...

and you're correct the screens are easy to clean... compared to everything else... take a carefull look...

Just askin'...

whilst i'd love to banter about aimlessly, today, i cleaned and repainted the corn toss pit boxes (factory standard equipment on vintage '05 CCD Internationals, AND well designed; easy to clean i might add) we have VERY SERIOUS business to attend to and were going Str8 to work when i arrive at the balloooon fiesta...

better call 911 now...

just thinking out LOUD,

kevbo

I can see I should of come here first.

Would've spared me a mindcramp.

And those folks with the xtra bloated letters who seem
to always do things in moderation probably would have
liked it to.
as would of my parole officer.
Frank.
as in hotdog.

Question is, Is there a better way of cleaning vintage screen doors and windows other than by spraying them with my bottle of seltzer water? You can probably guess all the problems that can cause. Its not pretty.

Any help that doesn't raise my warn meter anymore than reasonably necessary would be appreciated.

I thank you all in advance for just sayin if your sayin
