Stainless/Aluminum Wall Cladding

Am doing a backsplash and some wall cladding where I take either aluminum or stainless sheet and glue/rivet to the existing interior skin to cover the vinyl. Obviously for weight, cost and workability, I'd prefer to use as thin a sheet as I can.

Anyone have thoughts on what thickness/guage aluminum or stainless to use? Thoughts on which metal works out better? Have heard alum will scratch/oxidize/cloud vs. stainless, but is cheaper and lighter. Brushed vs. non-brushed? Also, if going with aluminum, am looking at 2024 ALCLAD, anyone use that and/or have had issues?

Thanks!

I used the same clearcoated exterior aluminum as is used for the skin for a bath counter backsplash. Worked well.

Where did you get it? Any idea what gauge/thickness it is? Thanks for the reply!
