Smelly vinyl

Does anyone else find the smell of the vinyl ceiling unbearable? We bought a 2000 Excella 30' and it was neglected. After a trip to the dealer (seller paid all costs!) all systems were a go. We found mice had been in the camper. Set a trap and caught one (very inhuman method, but effective). I cleaned up the droppings but still kept smelling something. Everyone who walks in the camper tells me it is the vinyl ceiling. Does anyone have any suggestions to clean or otherwise get rid of the smell -short of tearing the ceiling out!! I tried the RV shocker which did get rid of the dead mouse smell (hint if you set a trap - check it DAILY!!), but this other odor keeps coming back!

If our trailer stays closed up on a hot day we will get the same smell. I too believe its coming from the vinyl padded ceiling. The good news is that its not drooping down anywhere.. the bad news is that it smells like tuperware. I have the trailer in a garage so I can leave the door open all the time as it helps to eliminate odors. I was wondering if one of the ozone cleaning machines could pull the smell out of the vinyl? I know dealers use them for used cars and all the smells go away. Someone here might have a solution for you.. Good luck

Some smells drive me crazy, too. Like fresh paint or that nasty sulfer rubber smell at Harbor Freight. One way to reduce smells is to put out a large pan of fresh cat litter or oil dry. If you leave this pan in the trailer when its stored, it can greatly reduce smells. Leave the pan home during an outing and replace it with fresh material when you return the coach to storage.

I have a 1994 excella it has that same weird odor (besides the floor i put in odor) I hate it and I open the door everyday and leave both the front and rear window open 24-7 and still it smells. I tried fab. etc.
