Ah, just read your posts Peter77. I KNOW exactly what you mean about dropping "dough" on the AS. Amazing money pit huh?

Very Nice Roadrunner. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a very good plan to me! I am investigating that too now that you mention it. Your AS freshen up looks great with the palm tree theme. Colorful.

Does Airstream build their L Lounge Sofa in the 28' model? If not who does?

OK, an update to this thread on my part, I ordered a Villa International "Airstream Classic 2007" non powered sofa in straight front (for me) instead of the curve Airstream ordered, in Brisa Ultra leather. Michael at Villa was very helpful.

rodsterinfl...how did this work out for you? We have an '03 Classic with the leather sofa and would like to change it out. Just wondering if this option worked?
Thanks,
Debi

So sorry Debi, I JUST saw your post a year later!!

It came out very nice. I really like it as it is comfortable and nice looking. It is the only place to sit in my model aside from the chair I added, so comfort is important. I thought about what many others have done- recliners, etc. but I wanted to maintain the storage and bedding AND SEATING functionality. The seat is 3 inches higher than the other one as noted by the height of the side bolsters but it was required since the frame design is angled (lower in rear) for comfort and I had to clear the electric box.The beauty of that angle is that when you sit back, the rear cushion is at shoulder height. That is what is nice, you pay a lot but it is customized for your need. My mom is 5'2" and when she sits on it, she looks like Edith Ann (old Lily Tomlin reference) with her feet not touching the floor! My template was the 2014 Classic ultra leather sofa in Brisa Patina. I believe Michael said this is what Airstream calls Chestnut. (non-power). Here is a pic of the $3K wonder:
