Mouse fur professional cleaning?
Our mouse fur has a lot of spots of mildew and I need it cleaned. Of course the dreaded fear is it will come unglued.
It needs cleaning..we are full-timers. Any suggestions? I am not removing it..too big a job for me.
Thanks, BadKat

I've spot-cleaned mine with a cheap consumer version of the "rug doctor" upholstery attachment. No problems so far.

We cleaned it in our 2001 Safari 25 using two methods - DW mixed up some OxiClean solution, sprayed it on not getting it too wet and let it dry. That did a pretty good job on most areas and would probably do a good job on mildew.
I followed up with the upholstery attachment on a Bissell carpet cleaner, using the carpet solution. Some areas had dark stains that were either mildew or aluminum oxide from the window frames or curtain tracks. I got those areas really wet and scrubbed them pretty hard.
Neither method showed any tendency to un-glue the material.

There are other posts in the forum if you search for mouse fur.
We used a Bissell Spot Clean model on everything that was exposed. I just used the detergent that came with the Spot Clean. It did a pretty good job.
In the front we had a soft spot in the floor. When we took the L-Couch and other furniture out there were numerous mold spots on the mouse fur. I used the Spot Clean on them and got most of it out. We took our AS up to Jackson Center and had the floor repaired. When we picked it up the mouse fur looked like new in the moldy area up front. I asked the technician what he used to clean it with and he said bleach and a brush, then used just water to clean it up with.

I have used Oxyclean and a spot cleaner with mixed results. They both worked to a small degree. Thinking it might be time to call in a pro. Also need to remove and clean all my crappy white curtains so this might be a good time to do both.

I have a 95 motor home and had a lot of spots under the table from spills. I took tilex and sprayed it on and then wiped it with clean white cloth. I had no damage and nothing came unglued. Since then I have cleaned the entire motorhome with great results. Once in a while I need to touch up a small area but seems to work fine.

We also had Stanley Steamer clean ours in our '99 25' Safari about 5 years ago. I asked them to use the least amount of water necessary and we haven't had any issues of the adhesive letting loose.

I have a professional HWE, hot water extraction, truck mount machine i use to clean the wall on the trailer.
Use a good pre-spray applied lightly, let it sit for a couple mins and only rinse with hot water suction system. Some cleaners use a product in the rinse that leaves a sticky residue behind that can cause the are to become dirty quicker than before.
you can use stanley steemer or get a non franchise local cleaner guy (better bet in my view) or check out local rental place for a nice portable cleaning system unit like a predator or the Jaguar cleaning system.
they have the power to clean, remove the water and heat the water you use to clean with. both are great machines.. guys that do on site car cleaning sometimes have good machines.

but a good hot water extraction cleaning will brighten up the walls and get the old mildew and spots off.. stains are permanent, spots can be mostly removed.

We own a Rug Doctor carpet cleaner with upholstery cleaning attachment. It worked great on our mouse fur. We had a couple of spots that were stained dark with mildew from prior leaks. For those spots, I mixed a diluted bleach/water mixture (about 1 part bleach to 10 parts water) and sprayed it on the mildewed spots then I worked it in with a small brush. After that, I used the upholstery attachment to vacuum the moisture away. This left the mouse fur clean and almost dry to the touch with no problems of detachment from the walls. A rented Rug Doctor should work equally well. This is an easy DYI and you'll be pleased with the results.

Spending the time it would take to clean 35 feet of mouse fur ourselves was not something we wanted to spend our time doing so I called Stanley Steamer. We got the motorhome out of storage, parked it in front of our home, took down all the curtains and shades and removed the boxes from around the windows. They came and hooked up to our outside water spigot and cleaned it from top to bottom (including the carpet) for $150. We paid them another $125 to clean all the upholstered and leather furniture (they also treated the leather). It was worth every penny.
