Is leather hot to sleep on?

We are redoing the interior of a mid seventies Argosy and are considering upholstry options. Has anyone had experience with leather on bed/couch? Is it hot or sticky to sleep on in warm weather? I've had leather furniture at home that wears like iron.

If you use a mattress pad & sheets, it shouldn't be bad...in sleeping bag with any skin in direct contact, I would think it would be too warm.

Sometimes if our leather gets too hot, we just take it off and sleep in our flannels.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Personally I prefer leather. Main reason it is easier to keep clean and if it is good enough leather - it will last forever (I have nothing but leather as with four dogs - its a joy to clean as compared to cloth). Leather can get "sticky" if its unbearably hot - but just place a sheet over it and you will be just fine.

Yes.The voice of experience here says it is very hot and uncomfortable to sleep on in hot weather. You would have to put a mattress pad on , and sheets, to make it bearable. And, in cold weather, it is very stiff and cold.
On the plus side, leather does seem to last forever. I have a leather chair that I have had more years than I like to think about, and it still looks like the day it was made.

Yes, it saddens me to look at those poor pets of Johns! They’re so hot and uncomfortable they can’t even get off the sofa. I have a mind to call the animal rights activists. As for the rest of you, I would suggest you immediately send me any leather (including remnants) you currently have in your possession so I can put a stop to this atrocity!

I would be happy to send you my chair, but the size and weight would be cost-prohibitive to send international...
