Interior Door

I need to re-paint the interior of the door, as it is faded by sun and stained with who-knows-what. Any suggestions on prep work? primer needed? type of paint to use? Where to purchase these items?

We own a 24-ft 1979 Classic Excella Class A Coach.

Thanks!

The interior of the door used "vinyl clad" aluminum.

If you wish to paint it, that's ok, but you will be painting a "vinyl" not metal.

You "MUST" scuff the vinyl with 100 to 120 grit sandpaper, to the point that the vinyl pattern is no longer visible.

Then use a good grade of primer, and let it age a day or two.

Lastly, paint over the primer with a good enamel based paint. Give it a couple of coats.

You will be better off with a plastic adhesion promoter rather than a run of the mill primer. You can usually find this product at an automotive paint store or an auto parts store that also sells automotive paint supplies. It does come in spray cans.
