insert molding

Anyone know a source for the insert molding that runs the length of my 1969 safari? What they sell today is only 1 inch wide and without the channel that is used to connect it to the metal trim. The old stuff is 1 1/4 wide.

1969 Airstreams did not use "insert" type moldings.

That started with the 1974 models.

The blue was simply painted.

Vintage Trailer Supply has some that is 1-1/2 wide. It maybe measured edge to edge and not just the raised portion.

Even More Exterior

Thanks guys but the molding I am looking for is on the interior of the A/S and covers the metal channel that runs the lenght of the ceiling. The metal channel connects the ceiling pannels.

You can cut down vertical blinds to the right width and cup them, and they snap right into most of the interior metal which uses inserts. You can get many colors, fabrics and textures. I stole this idea from another post (long since lost to me) and it works like a charm, and is inexpensive to boot. I used some white vinyl ones that were in storage in my basement.

Does the metal trim have raised edges and the "insert" would actually have C edges that snap over the metal edge..? Like a 71 bath trim or - does it actually insert into the metal trim....

Tracker can you get a picture? Most of us on here are visual people. I am not familiar with the 1969 trailers. I believe those were a transition year. I have a 1975 and there are at least 3 different moldings on the inside.

the metal trim doesn't have raised edges but it does have a raised center section that the vinyl insert snaps into, Iam going to try to post pictures if I can figure out how. Thanks
