Inner skin fit problem

I am having trouble with fitting my lower street side inner skin. As I began to reassemble, I noticed that the bottom does not touch against the c-channel. I cut a thin angle to extend the channel height to have a place to rest against. But the problem is the rivet holes are off by at least 1 inch.

Is it possible that this skin is not made to rest against the channel, but instead to float over (maybe to make room for the corner black tank that goes here?) and this will give the slack needed to match holes?

In the photo, the red on the bottom is what I added. The holes by the window match up, but that puts the holes on the other end of this sheet off, like the skin is too long.

Don't think I am crazy....but, is it upside down? All those old rivet holes look out of place and the two wire grommets look like they could be workable if inverted. That wall panel should not have moved that much out of alignment.

Good thought, but the lower corner at the water heater is cut out squared, so it is definitely in the right vicinity. But right to notice excessive rivet holes around the top. It and the piece above and it were cinched in places, def not factory. I spent a while finally getting the good side done. I dread the matching up of bottom to middle to endcap on this side. That is, if I can get started with the bottom skin in place.

Hmmm, yeah. I think Melody Ranch is right. Do you have a pic of this before you took it apart? Seems like all those rivet holes should be at the bottom, if I remember ours correctly...

Well I can't know for sure what's original or not. But I am sure I am putting it back how it came apart. I think with my mod there is now not enough slack to align holes correctly. And I took pictures, but the one I took of this panel has the c-channel union cropped out. But there is also one picture I took of my black tank that shows about an inch of space between bottom panel and channel.

Here is another picture with the mating panel above. As you can see, somebody definitely got happy with the riveter. And also, my c-channel has no holes to indicate rivets were ever used there. The bottom panel just lays against it and floor unfastened all around. Also the wiring hole for the exhaust fan is the one in the upper left of bottom panel. Another thing, the opposite bottom panel has a curve cut out that perfectly fits the battery box while this one has squared cutoff for water heater as mentioned before.

I feel sure this has been taken apart before. I was also wondering if the cut out May have something to do with positioning the black tank. Just wondering if the bottom cut/channel non-union is factory or not.

It would seam that its would be best to use your old panel as a templet to make a new one that fits the way it should now that the tan has been removed...

Next question. Right now a pic posted on the home page (top left) shows rear end(bedroom?) end cap and skins in an overlapping pattern similar to roof shingles. This seems logical to me due to water shedding especially because mine is a rear bath. But my skins were installed exactly the opposite (by PO?). I have always wondered about this and thought of changing to the shingle type overlap. On seeing this picture, I now suspect that this was the original assembly method used. Correct?
