Increasing tension on Oceanair shades?

A couple of our Oceanair shades are just a bit 'lazy.' I'm wondering if the spring tension can be increased. Thanks.

Rob

Rob, not sure about your question...but I have another. Do you store your shades in the up or down position? Do you travel with the shades up or down?

Just curious...and wonder what others with these are doing.

Enjoyed the pictures of your Airstream...very nice! Saw what appears to be some custom features that look really sharp and functional.

Some up some down

I usually travel with my front and rear blinds open so I can see out the back of the trailer. Most side ones stay down to keep the trailer cooler inside.

I haven't tried this, but based on the information here it sounds like it might be possible.

That sounds like it's easy to adjust the spring tension on the roller shades. Thanks for asking. Nice to have info in memory if needed. Pat

Adjusting the Tension

Make a call to Oceanair. They'll adjust similar to "old school" roller shades; however, you don't want to break the mechanism by over-torquing. The motherships MAY assist you over the telephone - IF - you are lucky and get the RIGHT customer focused service representative. My route was to call Oceanair. They talked me through the process.

They sure can. You will need to remove the shade from the wall to start. 4 screws on each end. Those little round covers are a PITA to remove. Once it is removed from the wall you will see a screw that hold the ends on. I forget which side the spring is on. Remove the screw, DO NOT remove the end cap. Turn the end cap clockwise to tighten spring and reinstall set screw. Be careful not to over tighten the spring. Reinstall shade. If you can't get a proper adjustment on the spring a new one (spring) can be ordered from OceanAir.

Wow! Did that today on my two lazy-ish ones... nothing could be easier. Just one turn of the end cap restored great tension. Thanks to all who answered.
