I Washed JP Ambrose's Drapes!

Back in 2004, Kim decided it was best to purchase new drapes from Mr. Ambrose (http://jpadrapes.com) for my '67 Overlander instead of sewing new ones from scratch. Although the initial cost caught me off guard, I will tell you that it was money well spent as we have really enjoyed the quality over 13 years of Airstreaming.

A few years ago, one curtain got stained, and the dry-cleaners charged us a small fortune to really not even make a dent in the discoloration.

Jump forward to today - I tossed one window of curtains in the washer with Woolite on the delicate setting. Minor improvement, and no damage after drip-dry.

To sum it up, all the curtains were subsequently washed in the Regular Cycle, and turned out well after drip-drying.

Just thought I would share,
Tom

OxyClean is a great stain remover and brightener...

Thank you. I may be visiting that site to look at some replacement curtains.

I would say you got your moneys worth.

I agree!! I have purchased three sets of drapes from JPA Drapes. One set for my son's '79 Argosy 6.0 Minuet, another set for our '75 Argosy 20' MH, and a third set for our '55 Flying Cloud. All three sets fit great and the quality was excellent!
I'm happy to know that they should last a long time.

I'm not very handy with a washer, my wife won't let me use it unless it is a shear emergency. What soap product did you use?

I used Woolite for the first load, and then switched to Tide Free (my wife's standard soap) for the remaining loads. Both worked well on the delicate setting.

We have a 2009 25' FB, we store it though the winter here in the Phoenix area, lots of dust. So each year before we take off for the summer, I remove all drapes, I put the front set in the laundry sink full of water with about 2 cups of Oxyclean over night, then in the washer on normal cycle, with a 1/2 cup of Clorox, then hang them up on a line in the garage to dry. Do the same with aft set. They are bright white again.

Rick,

I have tried to contact JPA Drapes. Their phone number no longer works, their website is down, and they did not respond to my email. I assume they are no longer in business. If you have new contact information, I would really appreciate receiving it. Thanks very much.

JPA Drapes' web site went down sometime after September 2017. I hope a well received run for 44 years run may mean retirement.

A potential replacement: www.airdrapes.com
