Not counting the material each of my gauchos cost about $500 to do.

11 yards was too much

I just had my couch recovered which included arms, skirt, piping and a small ottoman. My shop ordered 11 yards and there must be 2 yards left. Plenty to make a couple of big pillows. Also added 1" of new foam and the couch is much more comfy.

That is great about having all that re-upholstery done and still having material/fabric left over, do you think 18 yards (the estimate I got) was a joke?? Geez...

We are trying to decide now if we re-cover our couch, etc. or if we buy a new one, found some we like on-line and have been talking with the vendor and it seems it may work well. The only thing we will have to give up is the side arm storage we have now and plus, we give up having the original couch which I know some feel is a bad decision to not keep things original. We did get another estimate (cost only) to re-upholster the couch from someone else earlier last year and the cost is more than buying a new couch, seems like a lot of you are getting a better deal when it comes to having someone else do the re-upholstering.
