I like the bunk beds. and man. it looks like you can sleep 5-6 people. nice work. check out http://www.jpadrapes.com/ for curtains. i also looked up silver threads. but. i am about to decide on rv pleated shades from united shade. I realize my tolerances are too tight for curtain tracks both on top and bottom. I know the Jd drape company could sew up your own fabric too as there's is a bit neutral. cheers. Ted

Check with tincaninteriors.com they get fabric from a store here in NW Ohio that gets role ends from a furniture factory and sells them @ $5.00 per 54" wide yard. I do not know the cost of labor to recover a couch or cushions, but the cost of curtains starts at $60 a finished yard using the $5.00 a yard material. We got 15 yards of upholistry for our gouch for only $75 plus tax. We plan on doing the sewing ourselves.

Hi Msmcv51.
Would you please share the name and location of that store selling the discounted upholstery fabric? It might be worth a trip there to take a look -- do they normally have a good selection to look through?
Thanks.

Air Cruiser this one's for you. First, I could not find the town of Somewhere on the map. The fabric store is in Norwalk and it's name is, you got it , Norwalk Fabric. Their address is 124 E. Main. The store is an old two bay corner gas station and it is packed with fabric floor to cieling. The best way to shop is to some what know what you are looking for and be ready to buy. They will give you samples to take back with you, BUT when you go back to buy that perfect fabric it just may be gone. also their selection is always changing.

msmcv51, thanks so much. Norwalk is not too far from us, that would be a nice drive for a Winter Saturday.

Yes it can!
We had our cushions recovered irecently in a shop that caters to boat interiors. We got excellent fabric (Sunbrella) and very good workmanship AND a break on the labor and it still cost $1400.00 +. BTW, we have our old covers available for sale if anyone is interested. It is the Midnight Sun fabric, 2008 Safari SE. Our ad should still be posted in the classifieds.

Tell them Ruth sent you.
Alternatively, we used Wellmans Upholstery,a shop in Sparks, NV for our upholstery. Quick and reasonable. $2600 for our couch and dinette with all new materials.

I stopped in at The Tack Shop today and spoke with Lupe. He's a really nice guy. He quoted me $1300 in labor for the couch and the two barrel chairs and $35 per yard for the material I picked out. He estimates about 18 yards are needed. So we would be just under $2000. To me that sounds pretty good!
Thanks for the recommendation "bganso" and Ruth!

23 yards???? That's enough material to upholster 3 Cadillacs! How big are those seats????
Yes good upholstery is expensive. It can cost as much to reupholster a good piece of furniture with good quality material, as to buy a new cheap piece of furniture made of cheap material. But the good furniture reupholstered with good material, will last twice as long, easy.
Upholstery and curtains are not beyond the abilities of a do it yourselfer. If you have a heavy duty sewing machine with a walking foot it helps. I have seen some good jobs done by amateurs with a minimal investment in tools and the help of a few books on upholstery.

3 Cadillacs sounds about right when you consider that the seats and backs are upholstered on the backs and undersides and are separate units with no joined surfaces and end up wide enough to sleep a couple of people.

I’m very interested in plans for the bunk beds. They’re amazing and I’ve got three boys to fit in a ‘58 Overlander 26. They look like a great solution. Beautiful work!
