Getting new futon mattress to bend into Gaucho

Hi, just bought a new futon mattress with a little more spring than the flat pad the original mattress had. It is the same size as the previous, the problem is that it wants to pop up straight and not bend into the gaucho when the couch is in the upright position. Any tips on holding this thing down into the crack while using Gaucho in the couch position.

If you do an internet seach for no slip futon mat, you'll come up with a bunch of choices. You can also try using a roll of that waffle weave shelf liner - the rubbery stuff that goes under glasses. Put the entire roll betwrrnt he futon and the hard surface underneath. It might do the trick.
