Fancy Italian Backsplash!

Here is an idea if you are sick of looking at contact paper on the wall. Peel and Stick has come a long way. The look is realistic gel-like stone.

I'm planning the same project in my bathroom. Did you remove the wallpaper border. If you did what method did you use?

I'm using this product.

No. That stuff is vinyl and on a piece of that brown stuff like peg board is made of over top of the aluminum wall. I considered removing the brown board but then all the spacing would be off from the counter, etc. Just use a degreaser on the vinyl. Your link is to the same stuff. Not cheap but it does look pretty realistic.

we used that in a older condo kitchen we are selling to jazz up the space. looks nice is lightweight and looks real from a distance or at first glance.

expensize but great product.. knocks will be coming soon enough and the price will get down to $5 bucks (1/2 off) a sheet which is 10 x 10..

Started my bathroom back splash using Smart Tiles. I was able to pull off the wallpaper border. Its thin vinyl and peeled off without disturbing the wallpaper covering. I don't think I really needed to pull it and was going to leave it but notice an area close to the countertop where it was bubbling. I think the wallpaper had separated from the luan backer board because at that spot some of the wallpaper (which seems vinyl) peeled off too.

I have one 110v receptacle and after careful measurement was able to get two pieces cut around it. All that remained was the last 2 1/2" at the end of the wall and darn it the last piece I cut wrong. Gotta get another piece today. My Smart Tile is straight on one side and interlocking on the other side and took the measurement wrong on the interlocking side.

Once the backing is removed it is quite thin and flexible. When positioning the material you have to be careful not to apply pressure before you have the position perfect. Putting on the pieces behind the bathroom sink faucets and around the electric receptacle was a challenge.

My backsplash is about a quarter inch taller than the tile square so there is about 1/4" gap between the tiles and the cabinet but you pretty much have to squat down to see it. Standing or sitting on the toilet its not noticeable.

I'll post a photo when complete.

My wife put in the bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom is holding up well. The kitchen is another story, the tile is separating from the adhesive back. We do. T use the burners so it is NOT a heat problem. Will have to remove it, what a job!!
We got the product at Home Depot at $10/sheet.

We have some peel and stick tiles waiting for the kitchen and bathroom. They are subway and look like brushed aluminum.
