Cushion Foam Choices? Suppliers?

The time has come for me to start thinking about getting new cushions made for my Caravel. I have chosen a Sunbrella fabric.
The question is what foam did you use for sleeping / sitting? Also where did you get the foam?
I've sat in several SOB and there is some really "cheap" foam out there. This I don't want.
Thanks in advance!

I bought mine from the Foam Factory online. http://www.thefoamfactory.com/seatcu...foamtypes.html

Their website is a good place to start for researching the best density and firmness of the foam youll want. One suggestion is to definitely get a softer foam for you back cushions than your seat cushions.

If you have one close to you, JoAnn carries foam, too. Another place to look would be a local upholstery shop. Even if they don't sell foam, they might be able to point you to a supplier near by. Sometimes there is no substitute for "trying" before buying.

I looked into the foam factory and they happen to be in Michigan, 3 hours South of me . Even better they have free shipping. I emailed them to see about buying a few samples be for I buy the big pieces.
They are a bit less expensive than the place I was looking at. And the foams appear to have the same ratings.
This has been most helpful.

I live outside of Denver and recently had cushions made for a couch I built. I looked at several shops that specialize in making these; most are knowledgeable in foam quality and stiffness and will make recommendations based upon your needs. Beware, however, the work is expensive.

When we redid our couch I found a place online that is in Detroit. Best prices, best foam and a wide selection of sizes, better than Joann fabric. For sleeping we like memory foam. We got a mattress online from Wal-Mart, took the cover off, cut it to size and shape and recovered them. the place is called foam n more. web site www.foamforyou.com hope this helps.

Yes I know that this step is expensive. I dare say singly the most expensive part of my whole restore.
I have a retired upholstery person, she just does a few jobs a year. All from her home and I have to get the foam and fabric.
She has given me some ideas of what to look for but thought it would be nice to hear what other people have used and are happy or unhappy with.
Thanks again

What we did for the dinette cushions was to make one side the "eating" side, with a (more or less spill-resistant) vinyl surface. The other side is the "sleeping" side, with a cloth surface.

The foam is 2" of gel memory foam on the sleeping side, plus 3" of firm foam on the seating side. Two layers of foam, wth two surfaces for sleeping or eating.
